Don Dotson, Founder, President & Chief Executive Officer led the formation of Vencer Energy in July 2020. Mr. Dotson’s experience spans over thirty (30) years of executive management, business development, engineering, and strategic planning roles for domestic and international, private equity backed, major global publicly traded, and large independent corporations.
Prior to joining Vencer, Dotson spent seventeen (17) years co-leading private equity portfolio investments for EnCap and Liberty Energy. He served as President & CEO of Sable Bay Energy. Previously, he held the position of President & COO for several successful rounds of start-up to fund monetization for Plantation Petroleum Company II, III, IV, and V. Don held various senior management roles with Samson Resources and Samson International. Dotson began his career performing engineering and strategic planning roles with Amoco Production Company.
Dotson obtained a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech University as well as an MBA from Houston Baptist University. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas and a member of the distinguished Texas Tech University Academy of Petroleum Engineers. With the belief that investing in the future of oil and gas engineers is essential to the industry, Don established the ‘Dotson Family Legacy Scholarship in Engineering’ to provide financial aid to Texas Tech Engineering students in 2013.
